Matt stripped of his job
September 12th 2008 04:44
Continuing our series on short political careers, the Minister for Police of the Australian state of New South Wales resigned on Wednesday after it was claimed that he had danced in his underpants on a sofa and simulated a sex act with another member of parliament.
The alleged acts took place at a late-night party in Parliament House, and come just days after the resignation of the NSW Premier and a promise by his replacement to "restore public confidence" in the administration.
The underpanted member, Mr Matt Brown, and his alleged simulated sex partner, Ms Noreen Hay, deny any simulated sex took place. Party spin doctors say that, either way, in such situations they recommend use of a simulated condom.
Mr Brown had been Police Minister for three days when he resigned.
No member of the police force has as yet commented.
