I have decided not to leave

I have decided, after much careful consideration, not to leave Orble. This is despite the rising incidence of disgracefully punny posts by Norm.

It was a difficult choice, whether to stay or go, especially after sleeping with Jon last night, only to be told this morning that he preferred Norm.

I wasn't going to write a post about not leaving but then I decided I would anyway. It might seem pointless, and of course it is, but it adds nicely to the word count.

Now that I have decided not to go and spread sunshine and cheer somewhere else, I notice that it's kind of quiet around here. Funny that, given the mass exodus of late. I mean, there are only about 99.5 per cent of us left.

For a sinking ship, it's kind of crowded around here. Reports of Orble's demise have been greatly politicised. And, despite claims to the contrary, I see nothing Orbwellian about the place.

Now if we could only teach Norm to write posts that don't read like a recipe for Martian sponge cake.

I do admit that, but then I think those influences will be apparent in every community, be it Berlin 1933 or Orble 2009. There will always be bullies, there will always be wannabe dictators, there will always be voices of reason and voices of treason, there will always be pacifists and there will always be a largely silent majority falling victim to the ebbs and eddies of all the above.

As Orble grows, there will be other aggressively opinionated people to take the place of the ones we are "losing". I'm sure Jon knows that - if he doesn't, it's something he's learning quickly

It sounds obvious to say it, but it's a lesson which seems to need constant repeating to some people: you can't eliminate opinions contrary to your own, you can only learn to live with them.

Hi Janet,

I would never try to influence anyone or force my views upon them, but I can't leave Orble until we have moulded Norm into a shape and form which benefits the wider good.

As for Jon being busy, it's actually Norm being busy. The real reason SL is leaving is because Norm dumped her.
