Chocolate for lovers
February 5th 2009 02:53
Hanna Frederick knows how to make chocolate with a difference.
The qualified food scientist also knows how to make headlines. She does that by creating such delicacies as beer-flavoured and deer velvet-flavoured chocolate.
Her latest may be her greatest. Just in time for Valentine's Day, she has created a new chocolate which includes a male aphrodisiac.
Frederick, of Auckland, New Zealand, will help people celebrate the day of romance with chocolates fortified with tongkat ali, a herb from South-East Asia which is claimed to stimulate testosterone production in men.
The chocolates will deliver a "small but noticeable" aphrodisiac effect, Frederick said.
The active ingredient, also called eurycoma longifolia jack, takes three days to build up to optimum effect.
The chocolates come with a warning not to overdose. Side effects may include insomnia, anxiety and restlessness.
